Iteration 35 Queer Joy
Sunday 5 October, 2025, 4-7pm
The D*List, 322 New North Road, Kingsland

This iteration celebrates our queer joy at mothermother! Thank you to yasmin dullabh for inviting Bee Fourie and their Queer Joy Quilting Project and community to mothermother.

The Queer Joy Community Quilt is the culmination of a queer and disabled-led project, a series of connecting and making workshops grounded in whanaungatanga and manaakitanga, facilitated in an intentionally slow and relational way. The patchwork quilt we exhibit is a labour of aroha and kotahitanga, an expression of our intersectional understandings of queer joy and the result of skill sharing, solidarity and commitment to creating.

From the found fabrics to the support of our whānau in attending the workshops to the cultural and personal histories informing our compositions, these squares, while attributed to individuals, are intrinsically connected to our broader contexts.

Finally, by inviting our communities to hand-stitch the layers of our quilt together, we acknowledge their part in our joy. Queer joy is meant to be shared.
